A Quick Post Before July Arrives ..........................................................

Greetings dear friends & readers,
I hope you are all enjoying a lovely weekend.
I am trying to squeeze in a final quick post before we wave goodbye to June - gosh, that sure went by 
in the blink of an eye!


Though I am well aware I should be working on Orders, I decided last weekend to do something with this rather odd assortment of trays cluttering up my Sleepout


An unusual group of wooden & cane trays, gathered no doubt from my Op Shop travels
I had seen this stunning work by Debi Coules on Pinterest & it had inspired me to do something with the beautiful transfers I bought in this post back in May


The trays after I had painted them all with chalk paint

The first transfer rub-on ... this tray is painted in Chalk Paint "Glacier"

The 2nd transfer - this tray is painted in the chalk paint I bought from Paint Me Vintage called Yorkshire Stone


The third tray - my favourite one I think as I adore the bee!
These flowers are all cut out from the one transfer & I still had lots left over for future use


The wooden box was a different transfer & the photos below show the sides of the box as well as the inside which 
I lined with a nice offcut of scrapbooking paper



 Each tray got scuffed with a fine sandpaper to lightly distress the edges
The finished ensemble .... I will think about lacquering these trays with a clear coat but as I don't plan on using them 
I am in no hurry.



This past week has seen some lovely sunny winter days but Oh My - what cold starts with some really heavy frosts.
I made Sid a hut on the couch last week & he played quite happily for sometime while I sat at the worktable & made up some kitsets for a class I was teaching on Friday - felt Christmas Ornaments

Miss Pippi made sure I cut them out accurately & no mistakes were made !! 😉
I had some exciting mail arrive with another Order of beautiful wooden buttons from Theodora Cleave
I follow Barb on Instagram & when she posts her specials I am often tempted - her work is adorable 💗
Well dear friends - it feels like another ripper of a frost tonight so I am off to fill the wood basket,

    As they say in France.."tre bien"..The trays are amazing
    Julie, once again you've created miracles..Love the third
    one with the bee..And! No! I agree..their far to nice to
    use..! :).

    And the supervisor Miss Pippi, making sure everything is
    all cut and done the right way..Bless her!x
    I suppose Blackie's asleep with his paws in the air..someplace!x

    We'er just about getting our summer over her..temp. up in the
    30's nice hot sunshine, so every things looking good..for a
    change..! :).

    And little Sid seems busy! busy! with lots of bits and pieces
    to sort out..just like his Granny..HeHe! :).

    Best get on..just gone seven, suns up and shinning, and quite
    warm already, into town a bit later, market day to~day, then
    a visit round the charity shops..might even spend some money! :).

    Hi Julie wow those trays look awesome you always do such beautiful work,well done my friend.
    What wonderful fun Sid is having I remember doing this for my little sister,Sid playing happily away bought back lovely memories.

    Gosh, really love the trays. They look so beautiful! I loved making tents with my kids when they were young. Ordinary playing is so much better in a tent!

      Thanks for your lovely comment Selina - the trays turned out so lovely & were a fun project to work on too. I shall definately be doing more with the transfers now I have given it a go.

    So lovely! I really love the transfer you used, may I ask the brand name of the transfers? I think this style transfer would look amazing on a dresser I am painting. :)

    You have made a beautiful job of your trays.....Love the bee too! My kids used to make all manner of residences out of blankets in school holidays. Bet Sid had fun! Stay warm xx

    I simply cannot believe June is almost past. Where did May go? You've made those trays absolutely beautiful. What a difference. I love the bee too. Aren't kitty cats funny. Dumperoo drives me crazy when I am cutting out an apron; he wants the pattern pieces.

    I love Sid's hut..how come you never make me one when I come to stay?? At first I thought you had painted the flowers on the trays, then I read they are transfers, they look lovely.

    Lovely as always to see what you are up to Julie. It looks like Sid's hut was a great success and oh what fun for him playing with your bits and pieces! The trays have transformed beautifully - I think I'm with you, I love the bee transfer! No frosts up here yet but definitely feeling like winter :-)

    You did an awesome job on those trays Julie, oh to be young again and have huts to play in. Love those buttons, wasn't Theodora Cleave's name The Woodcutters daughter years ago, can remember her from my doll making days. Stay warm Julie, we have had maybe one really frosty morning so far.     Some ripper of frosts here, too. =) I am thankful for warm, cosy fires. LOVE all the trees. All the transfers are pretty; love the sweet little bee. I rather love the sweet wicker tray. I was only thinking the other day I must look out for a tray or two when I am out and about. You have inspired me to look more earnestly. Those buttons are adorable, aren't they. Sweet photo of Sid. Children love little cubbies, don't they. They seem to be happy for hours cocooned in them. Hope you are having a beautiful week, lovely Julie♥
