Keeping Busy

Greetings dear friends & readers

These are troubling times we are going through currently so - as my blog title suggests - I am keeping busy.

I saw this verse on Instagram yesterday & asked if I could share it - I loved it & felt it was appropriate for these uncertain times

And then this one below which made me smile .  .  .  . 😊

I have never had any problem isolating myself - in fact, I am probably the opposite in the respect that I often
have to make myself attend things & could quite easily hermit myself away.
But I know there are many out there who are struggling with isolating themselves while this virus runs rampant
& I really feel for them.

I finished a Tilda Hanging Lambs order for Maria last week - she called unexpectedly to collect it & I had taken
no photo's so I quickly snapped some while they lay on the bed - not very good ones either 😉

These are a pattern from the Tilda Book Homemade & Happy
The green set above were for Maria & the blueish ones were to go to Australia.

This ladder above was given to me by my lovely friend Sue on one of her visits way back in December 2014 !!
Here in New Zealand we have an advert for Mainland Cheese & it says "Good things take time"

Well, like the advert good things do indeed take time because I pulled it out of the sleepout this week & painted it - Gosh it has only been 6 Years !! 😉
I decided to hang some of my beautiful vintage linen tablecloths on it that had been shut away in a drawer.
This way I can look at & enjoy them 💗

I have had a large bucket of hydrangea's soaking in water for about two weeks now so I displayed them in my vintage cane trolley as I like to do each autumn

I have never had green ones before but I have a creamy coloured bush & when I looked around the back I found
the green tinged ones tucked away

A lovely & dear friend who lives away, lost her brother in a motorbike acccident on Waitangi Day.
I could not stop thinking of her & how sad she would be feeling - so I decided to send her a little Easter Package
The Bunny Teatowel above & the Rabbit Bag below are all free patterns off the internet if you would like to make any.
The Bunny teatowel download is  * Here *
The Rabbit Bag download is  * Here *

I used some of my treasured Tilda fabrics as I know she is a Tilda lover also.
I included lots of little extras, choccy eggs, lavender hearts, nests etc ........
My friend rang to thank me, told me she cried when she opened it but she could feel that I was thinking of her 💕
& it brightened her day

Last Friday night while I was sitting on the couch knitting my dishcloths I snapped these pics of Pippi & Blackie within the space of about 10 minutes - they are right beside me
Our evenings are cooler now & they have returned to the couch where they tuck up together in a little nest of blankets

It seemed quite appropriate then when this appeared in my inbox this morning - sent from The Mr 😊

Have a wonderful weekend dear friends - thanks for your visits here today,
Take good care, be very kind to yourselves & to each other.
With much love & friendship to you all,
Julie & the furry ones

  1. Great post, dear Julie! I love that top Instagram post so much.
Your kitties are the best of friends. They are so sweet about keeping each other warm. I'm so sorry for your friend and her great loss.
    Lovely lambs! (BIG HUG!)

  2. That thought at the beginning is so beautiful.
I'm happy to quarantine myself, too.
Sweet lamb sets you made, and I LOVE what you did with the ladder. Such a sweet display.
So very thoughtful to make and send that special package to your friend.
Your furry ones make me smile. :)

  3. ahahaha love the last pic, wow Julie just love your vintage linen tablecloths on that ladder, that looks so nice, as do all your makes, yes I don't mind being by my self, if only I could:-)Take care, don't forget to wash your hands. Chris xoxoxo from a distance of coarse.😁

  4. you boomers are shutting down the entire economy because you're afraid of a flu. Seriously, can you boomers kill yourselves? You are the most selfish generation to ever exist. You don't give a shit about climate change, why should we young people give a shit if you get sick and die of some virus? I HOPE the virus gets much stronger and kills you all.

    1. I saw this exact same comment over on another blog & thought what a horrid nasty person. But then someone told me it is popping up on lots of blogs & it is spam. So I have left it here in case anyone sees it & thinks the same as I originally thought.

  5. Wonderful sayings Julie, I have no problem self isolating myself either. Always many things to do at home. That spam is horrible, someone had to have written it in the first place one would think. I always find anti boomer comments interesting, many boomers I know grow their own veges, make their own jams and relish etc, repurpose many things, they are not the drain many people think they are. Anyway off my soap box the lambs Julie they are so cute, your linens look beautiful on the ladder. Always great to see the furry ones....good idea to stock up on the furry ones!!

  6. Oh, how all your sweet pretties and lovely home has made me smile today, lovely Julie. Those little lambs are delectable and oh how sweet is the little bunny bag and pretty teatowel is. The perfect gift to warm your friend's heart at this tragic time. Love the ladder and all those gorgeous embroidered linens. Love too, the lovely wicker chair. Oh.....and about that yo-yo dreamy. I rather love to be a hermit, shut in my little sewing room stitching to my heart's content. Take care, lovely lady.

  7. I am a natural introvert so am happy to be at home most of the time anyway, it does not bother me in the slightest. However I am feeling anxious about the virus, I have a compromised immune system so am rather worried about what the virus means to me. I am happy to stay at home and carry on my day to day life with extra sewing time included. How kind of you to send those lovely gifts to a friend. I think right now we all need extra kindness in our lives. Take care. x

  8. Ah! Lovely! Lovely! post to wake up to..Bless!x
Well..we must ALL take the advice of the experts!
No matter what age you are..we are ALL in the same
boat with this..and we must ALL row in the same
direction to get out of it..!

Even in my little town, shops are closed, cafes
    only doing take~aways..Supermarkets and chemists
open and that's about it..! :(.

Julie..there is one thing..if l should get bored,
there's always your past posts, and my folder of
the furry ones to look through..! :). HeHe!
But..Then l'll not one to get bored, always things
    to do..! :).

I'm off for another lemon tea..Hope each and everyone
takes care, and follow the rules, even if you have to
miss seeing a loved one for a while..! God Bless!x

  10. You make me laugh and I so need to laugh. The sun is shining and I have plenty to do. I love all your things you are so talented.

    1. Keep smiling Kim - your blog makes me laugh too xx

  11. Maybe i should've stocked up a few weeks back when the RSPCA had their "clear the shelters" sale. :) :). Love the projects you've been working on, they are just so lovely. Your beautiful kitties gave me a smile to see thme there all curled up together. Hugs,xx

  12. Keeping busy is all we can do Julie. Your craft work is beautiful as usual, love the Easter gifts for your dear friend, and thank you for sharing the links. This will give me a project to do if we go into lock down or quarantine.

Our world is in turmoil with no end in sight at this stage. My garden is where I will find piece in these troubled times. I have been planting veggies and preparing to make room somewhere else for more beds to grow all the food I can.

    Take care and stay well.
    Love Tania xxx

  13. I loved the sayings....inspiration is needed at these times. Love how you h e been keeping busy. Beautiful projects. Your vintage linens are gorgeous. A sweet Easter package for your friend too.....Stay well xx

  14. Between the devil and the deep blue sea here. Elderly mother, sisters with health issues, Beautiful Granddaughers and now, new Beautiful Baby Grandson, all of whom I fear I must stay away from in order to keep them and myself healthy. It's a pleasure to come here and see all of your beautiful crafting, Julie. I love everything. Be well. xxx

  15. Julie, wonder what that blog responder will do if he/she gets the virus? Laugh?
Glad to see the warm kitties. It is still cold here, so Precious is always someplace
warm and dark during the day! I am sure your friend did love the thoughts and the rabbit
towel and sack. How cute and appropriate for the upcoming Easter. Keeping busy is
what you do, so stay healthy too.

    1. I agree with you 100% Lynn - I know these things are spam but they are started somewhere by someone & what horrid things to write at this time. Hope you are taking care Lynn - love seeing your pics of dear little Precious xx

  16. Thank you Julie for your lovely post and gorgeous photos, love all your work, it is a time for making gifts to bring some cheer to others, baby bibs and lavender bags from recycled doilies to pop inside cards keeping me occupied. Also thank you for your Easter ideas. love your linen display too. Your two four legged family members would be lovely to have around. Hope you and your family members all stay healthy. [] []

    1. Thanks for your really lovely comment Jude. Yes it is a time for gathering & creating. We are going into autumn here so its rather nice to tuck away indoors as our weather is a little cooler. I have plenty of craft supplies to keep me busy (wink!!) xx

  17. Well, what a lovely post to have stumbled upon! Great photos - esp the cats-on-the-stairs one! Great projects too!
