Easter Crafts And Decorating

Greetings lovely friends & readers

I hope you all had an enjoyable & peace filled Easter   💗

Though I started this post on Easter Monday, I am still here trying to finish it.

Easter was quiet in our house this year - believe me when I say Quiet is perfectly fine by me.

Rather than sew Easter bags for the Grandchildren this year, I simply bought a pack of large size white kraft bags from the Variety Store.  Gail had given me an old wallpaper sample book so I covered the fronts of the bags with pretty pastel papers & then glued rabbit figurines onto this.  I added lace bows, pom-pom tails,  then cut out the recipients initial & tied on.  (to get the shapes for the rabbit figurines I drew around the wooden cut outs that the craft girls decorated in my last post)

This is what was inside Juno & Sadie's bags ... duck soap, blowing bubbles, chocolate treats & an activity book each.  I made the girls one of my wool blanket rabbits each, as I still have LoTs of wool blanket scraps.

Juno,  Sadie & family called in on Good Friday so I was able to give the girls their Easter bags then.

For Alec & Sid's bags I used more masculine wallpapers but still in the rabbit theme.  Rather than initials I made swing tags for their bags.   Instead of a woolen rabbit the boys got a small hand-held soccer game.  I have given Sid his bag but have yet to see Alec as he's been away with his Mum.

These 2 items above were thrifted from Hospice quite some time ago now.  Both items were $2 each but as they had a "yellow dot" they were half the marked price, so $1 each.  I always check the toy section of op-shops as you can find some unusual items occasionally.   I painted the canvas with chalk paint, Vintage White - it took 3 coats to cover the flower print.  Then I added some leftover easter themed transfers & hung it above a display.

I removed the wheels from the cart & gave it the same chalkpaint colour.  I was going to paint the wheels but instead I just sanded/distressed them.   I chose not to add too many bunny themed transfers as I thought this might be handy in my christmas decorating & I could simply turn it around. I lined the base with more of Gail's wallpaper remnants.

The two Tilda bunnies I sat in it are from previous Easters, a free pattern download from * Here *.  They fit quite neatly in the cart.

As I needed something extra, I sewed a small calico cushion & rubbed a leftover transfer on to it.  This just filled the gap nicely  🐰 & turned out so sweet.  I am thrilled with my little $1 Cart.

Although much of my Easter decorating is similar to previous years I have snapped a few photos around the Home.  I just love all the pretties & the pastels at Easter time & have yet to pack it all away as I enjoy it so much.

On Good Friday morning it was a dull dark day here so I turned all the fairy lights on & snapped these couple of pics of my mantle.

This is another older Tilda bunny (free pattern linked above) & she is sitting on the sweet little mug mat that Janet so kindly gifted me in * this post *.  I just adore it & cannot bear to put my mug of tea on it!! 🍵

Thank you as always dear friends, for your ever welcome visits here today,

I still have more Easter creativity to share so I hope to be back again soon,

Sending much love & friendship to you all,

  6. Fantastic....But...No news of the furry three's Easter...
Ah! Bless! Never mind, l'm sure Blackie will enjoy
sleeping on the wheeled box, once he gets his paws
    on it....
Seriously though Julie, once again everything looks
amazing, all the Easter gifts look lovely, l'm sure
all the Grandkids loved them all...
You've seemed to have worked well with all the bunny
rabbits....so did l...on Easter Sunday, with roast potatoes,
parsnips, carrots, leeks and mushrooms, just like Blackie,
    l'm partial to a little rabbit...HaHa! Well...A man has to eat..! :).

And, yes, l had a quiet Ester, though my neighbour Emma finally
had her baby girl, 7lb 13ozs...l popped round with a card, and some
money, and had a photo taken with her, l think l was holding it the
right way up...head at the top, isn't it...it's been a long time since
    l've held a baby...a human baby that is...Bless!x

And it's a lovely bright, sunny warmish morning, the sun was up at
six, so, l'd better get on with a few things...
Though, there's summat l usually do about now...Oh! What is it...?
    I forget...Never mind, perhaps Shirley will remind me...HeHe! :O)

  7. Some beautiful Easter decorations to enjoy. I love your new cart which looks perfect with the bunnies and cushion on it. It's a lovely time of year here in the UK, with Spring flowers and some sunshine too, particularly on Easter Sunday, which was wonderful! I think the grandchildren will be thrilled with their thoughtful gifts.
    Have a good week
    Best wishes

  8. Such beautiful little treasures everywhere in your house. You put me to shame!
I'm sure the children loved their Easter bags - it's always nice for them to have something to keep them occupied. My favourite, though, is the cart. My children had one with wooden bricks in and I loved it - don't know about them. 🤣😂

  9. How lovely to see the twinkle lights glowing on your decorations. The gift bags looked fun for all 4 youngsters. You still did a lot to them without actually sewing or painting. I had forgotten about small animal shape soap! I would usually get duck also! And used it and sorry it melted away with the dirty bath water. The Easter bunny has finally brought us decent weather and I actually rode my bike for 13 miles today. Boy am I out of shape! I have annual seedlings out side getting real sunshine today and my 3 coleus are so big, I don't know how to keep them going until mid May. Also my 2 impatiens are blooming inside. They just have to keep waiting. Hope the Easter bunny was good to the 3 fur babies, lol, and of course you! Lynn and Precious XX

  16. Your grandchildren are so lucky to have you! I love all the bunny stuff whether it's Easter or not. I saw one in the pet shop when I went in for Molle's tick collar - he was a rescue rabbit, I thought how nice it is that PetsatHome *UK) are not only selling pets but willing to rehome a pet. Betty

  19. Julie, your decorating is so lovely and such a pity you have to take it all down to stow away. You come up with wonderful ideas for gifts, tremendous Easter gifts. Reading Willies comment, gosh what a worry his not knowing which way to hold a wee baby, hope the neighbour hovered very close with a protective hand and arm !!! Scared to think of the consequences, he probably had to have a strong dash of whisky in his cup of lemon tea after.??!!
