Life in my Bubble ........................................

Greetings dear friends & readers,

How are you all doing ... I hope this finds you staying safe & well in your bubbles?
Life continues to be busy here at Threadbear HQ.
I have been slowly ticking some things off my never-ending-to-do-list .... as well as remembering to indulge in some creative pastimes so it's not all about work.

Though there are "slim pickings" in my garden of late, I try to find a small vase of color to brighten my bench every few days.

I was thrilled to see the beginnings of my camellias coming into bloom this week.

Last week I made Scroggin Slice
After The Mr complained he doesn't particularly like Scroggin Slice, I made him his favorite - Weetbix Slice

I did laugh when my friend Leeanne sent me through this funny . . .
She didn't know I had been baking but it seemed rather appropriate 😉

My neighbor & I have been swapping fruit & veggies between ourselves by leaving things in each others letterboxes
Yesterday I traded her 3 bottles of worm tea for this lovely large bucketful of Feijoas 😊

Earlier in the week I could no longer get the door closed on my craft cupboard at the end of my passage

It had been very much a matter of "toss it in & shut the door real quick"
As You can see - we have plenty of toilet paper supplies !!!
I took everything out, cleaned the cupboard & then put it all back in its appropriate storage containers.

While I was in a cleaning mood, I decided to wash all my vintage enamel ware

Alot of it fits in the dishwasher but equally - alot of the pieces are too big & have to be washed by hand

This was one of those jobs that half the way thru - you wonder why on earth you ever started !!

But it certainly does look clean & shiny now.

I went looking for the before photo of this footstool below & found it was way back in October last year when
 I first painted it
Then I parked it - just like it looks above right - in a corner of my lounge & rather forgot about it

I pulled it out on Tuesday & decided to finish making a new top for it.
I used the old top for my pattern & made up a sort of patchwork using some pretty vintage doilies from my stash.

Chalk Paint - "Old Linen" by Voodoo Molly Vintage
It only took a couple of hours work & I am so delighted with the finished article, which is going in my bedroom.

My two furry friends Pippi & Blackie did nothing yesterday except fight, hiss, growl & spit at each other.
There were chunks of fur all over the place ... mainly ginger !!
She is just as bad tho' as she gives him a swipe every time he walks past

I was somewhat surprised therefore to see them tucked up together on the chair last night looking like
butter wouldn't melt !!

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter Weekend dear friends,
Stay safe & well & happy in your bubbles,
Remember to be kind to yourselves & to each other,
With much love & friendship to you All,
Julie & the furry ones x0x0x0

Best get on..suns already out..nice and bright,
bit of washing to do, and it soon dries out on
    the line..!
I'm trying to stay away from the news now..it's
all a bit to upsetting..Terrible thing to be
happening..and ALL the amazing work the doctors,
nurses, and carers are doing is wonderful..They
ALL deserve medals..God Bless Them...! :o).

  4. I know that 'half way through' feeling! However, I also know how good it feels to look at a tidy cupboard/clean shelf etc. My kitchen needs decorating and I am rather dreading it but know how much better I shall feel once it is done. What a lovel collection of enamel ware you have. I just adoe your beautiful stool - what a lovely way to put those lovely pieces of embroidery to good use. Have a lovely Easter weekend. xx

  5. your stool is lovely. I like all the vintage pans. I used to have a few myself, but gave them away when we downsized to our retirement flat. All I have now is my stainless steel steamer and a couple of frying pans. Enjoy reading your blog.

  7. Love, love your footstool. A perfect re-make! Oooh, worm tea is like gold around these parts - it just about has to be prised out of Grandma's hand. Shes lovely and helps anyone but her worm tea is precious! Ha ha... We're staying in our bubble. Bubbling along really. Somedays I just lack motivation and others its all go. But we are 2 weeks down which is wonderful. Have a wonderful Easter. Be blessed. Arohanui

    1. Thanks so much Robyne. Yes the tiles in my kitchen are from an old fireplace that broke when it was removed from an old house. I held onto the tiles for about 10 years before I got the chance to finally use them in my kitchen. Have a lovely Easter Robyne - thanks again xx

  9. The newly covered footstool is a work of art with the vintage handworks you used.
I think my Spring house cleaning if finished, but may start over out of boredom.
Especially with the snow and sleet here this morn. The forsythias have been
blooming a couple weeks, and with Easter here soon, we always get "3 snows after
the forsythia blooms". Glad Pippi and Blackie made up for the evening.

  13. Hi Julie,

I love it when a new post from you shows up in my sidebar. The title actually made me chuckle because only this morning I saw a funny clip of someone out walking/exercising in one of those big clear bubble ball things {don't know what they are called lol}.

Your cooking makes me hungry, it all looks delicious!

As for your stool, the doily cover does look stunning. It sure is pretty and will be a lovely addition to your bedroom.

Its amazing how many chores are getting done now we are stuck at home. We will have the cleanest, tidiest homes by the time all this #stayathome is finished. I am spending time outside getting jobs done in the yard.

Your furbabies are just like children, enemies one minute, friends the next. Maybe they are wanting more of your attention haha!

Have a lovely stay at home Easter and take care,
    xTania

I have so many things I used to say I wish I had time to do, now I have the time and no focus!Good Easter weekend to you and yours, Julie and keep safe.xxx

  15. I was so pleased to see another wardrobe like mine although I think mine may have been worse. I had a "cull" 3 weeks ago and now sorry to have got rid of one or two pieces but so be it, move on.Julie your stool is so beautiful, I love the doilies made into a padded cushion, beautifully done.I like the look of the "scroggin slice" will make some sometime. Tried to get condensed milk last Tuesday, none on the shelves.Dear Miss Pippi and Blackie real brother and sister "stuff"

  16. I did look up scroggin slice & it sounded yummy. I might have to make it. Both of your slices look delicious. Love how your stool turned out. i've been thinking of washing my china & now might be a good time to do it. Since it is getting cooler the house isn't opened up as much so not much dust is being blown in. I hate when i've washed it all & then the wind comes up & voila all covered in dust again. :(. Awww looks at your precious kitties, so very cute. Hugs,xx

  17. I love, love, love your enamelware. Such an extensive collection. Did it take you long to collect it all?

    1. Hi Janet - thanks for your lovely comment. I first began collecting it when I discovered some jugs in a haybarn on a farm we worked on about 20 years ago. This began me on my cream/green collection. I collected odd pieces over about 5 years & then my husband purchased a box lot from an auction site once. I haven't added to my collection for about 10 years now but I still use lots of it & also - would you believe - I have another boxful that I have no room to display!! Wishing you a lovely Easter Janet.

  18. You are keeping yourself nice and busy - it's always nice to get those extra cleaning jobs out of the way isn't it - having said that though I haven't been tempted to do any deep cleaning, even though I thought it would be a good chance to do some! (I do have one room I started clearing so really should get back to that.) A lovely idea to use the doilies to recover the stool - it gives it a whole new lease on life. (I have an old enamel jug from my childhood that I've had to stop using as it's developed a hole - after all this time - it just gets moved from place to place and I'm not sure what to do with it! When I get a laundry shelf maybe it will go there?!!)
